The Horror Story of First Night in the New Home

It is a joy for Arifin's family (not his real name) to be able to occupy their new home. The big house, which is located on the outskirts of a village in Bandung city.

This is actually not livable, it is understood that here and there there are still many unfinished buildings, such as the living room where the ceiling has not been installed, the children's room which has not been tiled and the living room which has not been installed. No curtains yet. 

But what can they do, because the rented house that they have been renting all this time has expired, they finally decided to fill their new house with improvised conditions.

Tonight is the first night for Arifin's little family to occupy their new home. This man who is about thirty-five years old and his wife and two children are tired because they have been cleaning their house all day since this morning. 

Therefore, it is not strange that only at 20.30 they have started to lay down and rest in a room located in the living room. 

Maybe because of fatigue and also because the cold air that penetrated to the bone marrow made them all quickly fall asleep on the bed.

One of Arifin's children, who happens to be sleeping beside him, has a habit of not being able to sleep when he is asleep. 

This child often turns his body, without even realizing it, his feet sometimes kick Arifin's body, making this father of two kids feel uncomfortable and wakes up. 

At around 21.30 Arifin then decided to move to sleep in the living room, which was still in a rough condition. The window glass was still open without being covered by a single curtain, so the scenery outside was clearly visible. 

The living room lights had been off for a long time, so the lighting only relied on outside lights whose light penetrated directly inside.

Arifin chose to sleep on the sofa sideways facing the front door and window, while his head turned his back to the living room of their house, which at that time had no partition, because the door was not ready yet. He immediately resumed his sleep that had been disturbed.

Disturbed by Supernatural beings

Just about to fall asleep in a sweet dream, suddenly heard the sound of the middle room door as if someone opened. Then it sounded like a child's voice accompanied by small footsteps moving towards the back. 

Then the bathroom door opened, accompanied by the sound of running water from the faucet. Arifin guessed that it must have been the voice of his son who was needing to pee.

The sound in the bathroom then suddenly disappeared just like that and the atmosphere turned into silence. Because he felt so sleepy, Arifin didn't really care about it. He was ignorant and tried to continue his sleep.

Arifin's consciousness almost disappeared and turned into a beautiful dream if nothing had disturbed his sleep again. 

This time he felt a soft hand caress his head. Arifin spontaneously brushed the hand away, but strangely the edge didn't touch anything. He went back to sleep. Again, his head was stroked gently, again Arifin brushed it off with his hand. Arifin thought this was a fad by his son who had peed.

"Aaah .... go sleeping there, don't disturb Father," Arifin rebuked while sleeping .

No answer was heard, but the stroking of the hand then suddenly stopped. The disturbance didn't just stop there. This time Arifin felt like there was a gust of wind in his head that made him cold. 

Out of curiosity, he tried to get up and looked behind him. Strangely, no one was there. The living room still looks dark and quiet. Don't know why, Arifin feels bad. 

His body started to get goosebumps and the hairs on his neck suddenly stood up. Strange thoughts began to spread in his head, but between conscious and unconscious due to heavy sleep, he again tried to calm his mind and resumed his sleep while covering his body with a blanket.

Stealth Market

Haven't really fallen asleep yet, in front of Arifin's house it sounds like there's a crowd. As time went on the voices became clearer and disturbed his sleep again. 

He became curious, what really happened? His eyes slowly began to open while holding back sleep. What a surprise Arifin saw the scenery outside the terrace of his house. 

Between believing it or not, he saw so many strange creatures milling about in front of his house. Everything was clear to him. 

There was a tall, skinny creature with big eyes with long fingers and walking like a forest man. There is also a dwarf with a fat body, with a face that looks like it has ulcers. 

There are also pointy-eared creatures like Mr. Spock in the Startrek movie. There is also a creature with large ears like an elephant with legs like a chicken. Anyway, all the creatures he saw that he had never met in the real world.

Arifin's body was shivering with fear, then he quickly covered his head with a blanket trying to try to block his sight. The noises continued to disturb his sleep. 

At first he thought maybe this was just a dream, then he tried to peek through his blanket. Sure enough, the creatures were still there and clearly visible. They seem to be preoccupied with their busyness. 

He can see how the behavior of the creatures that are almost all strange and terrible in shape can be seen. There are creatures that are talking to each other. The way they talks is fast, like we are watching a dialogue scene in a fast-playing movie. 

Their voices didn't sound very clear, just like a hissing sound. Among them there are also those who look like they are trading. Some are sitting cross-legged on the floor.

Arifin's shock was not over yet when he saw such a frightening sight, out of nowhere, suddenly one of the creatures was in front of him. 

The doors and windows of the house were still tightly closed. The strange creature was in a sneaky position like a child playing hide and seek and asked him to be quiet, by placing his climbing index finger in his mouth while making a sound, " Ssssttttt ...... ".

This time Arifin's defense faltered. He tried to scream as loud as he could, but his neck seemed to be locked. No sound came out of his throat. 

His body was shaking with fear. With all his strength, he tried to get up from the sofa, but his body felt strangely heavy. He struggled as hard as he could, again in vain. 

Fortunately Arifin still remembers the words of his hollybook teacher first, if you meet a ghost, just read the holy verses of the Qur'an. 

Then he tried to read the holy verses of the Qur'an that he remembered. Sure enough, his body suddenly became light and with lightning-fast movements he jumped off the sofa, immediately running towards his room.

"What's the matter? How are you scared?" said his wife who suddenly woke up.

"Aa ... ah .... it's okay Ma, I'm just cold .....," said Arifin trying to cover up what really happened, for fear that his wife would be scared too.

The next morning, Arifin asked his wife if last night one of their children went out to pee. His wife said that their child slept soundly last night and never left the room until morning. 

Then, last night who went to the bathroom, thought Arifin. It must have been the ghost of the occupants of their house. But Arifin still tried to cover up the incident in front of his wife and children, because he didn't want his family to be scared and didn't want to live there.

Ask the Neighbor

A few weeks later Arifin's body happened to be unfit and asked for a massage with an old man in his sixties, a village masseur who lives not far from their house. 

While being massaged, he idly told the experience he had experienced. Hearing his story, the masseur just smiled a little.

"Why .... Why are you not surprised to hear my story? Don't you believe it? I didn't make it up, this really happened," said Arifin, a little annoyed.

"Yes...yes...Sir, I believe it! In fact, I am not surprised because I have also experienced it," said the masseur.

"What do you mean?" asked Arifin curiously.

"You see, sir .... this area has always been known to be haunted. The vacant land in front of this house is actually a traditional market for spirits. They do often hold transactions here at certain times. There are two places that they usually use, one is in the area about 500 meters from here, and the other is in front of your house, ” said the masseur explaining.

"Oww, I see....no wonder I saw a strange thing that night, it turned out to be true!" said Arifin in amazement.

"That's right....it's okay, they don't bother you. Only certain people can see them. Even in this house there is also a guardian. Maybe they just wanted to let you know where he was. Let it go, they also need life, just like us. The important thing is, that we don't bother each other. They are God's creatures too, sir," concluded the masseur.

Since then Arifin, who originally rarely sholat (pray),  became diligent in praying and tried to be strong in responding to the unique conditions around his house. 

Now he can live side by side with these creatures, although sometimes strange things still happen to him.
